I know its only the third day of New York Fashion Week, but two trends that seem to be emerging already are white and sheer.
A couple of white pieces that stood out were by Julian Louie. I particularly liked his take on minimalism that then had an ethnic twist without being too tribal. What I found particularly interesting was his inspiration...a book called 'The Hyena and Other men', who's Nigerian street entertainer subjects wore a mismatch of traditional african dress and contemporary Western references. I feel there are a lot of ethnic inspired fashion that surfaces most seasons, for example Dries Van Noten, but this feels different.
This was a particular highlight of mine, in terms of silhouette and wearability. The tassles feel like they should belong in the John Lewis habedashery department, but somehow they work and the African half of the inspiration isn't too obvious.

The collection felt understated, refined and fresh. The sheer element was balanced out with some moodier tones and harder graphics.
