The exhibition at Vauxhall Fashion Scout had chosen some great designers this season...a couple in particular caught my eye. The rooms at Somerset House seem slightly overwhelming with the quantity of designers, and although not on the same level, On/Off as well has quite a lot going on.
Designer Katerina Levina was the first to catch my attention, with her collection of two parts. There was the more couture range that used more expensive fabrics and had an androgynous feel to it and the more neutral and raw jersey pieces.
The designer told me how this had been hand knitted. The sheer over the top is an interesting interpretation of the trend and a quirky detail.
I loved how there was a real sculptural quality about these, and something sporty and casual.
Tramp in Disguise had some interesting knit pieces, based on volcanic eruptions. I found her illustrations stronger than the garments. They had a slight feeling of arts and crafts to them, but her lookbook was sound.
Her inspiration was evident in the collection, especially in the prints, which isn't necessarily what I favour, but I thought the illustrations of her knitted pieces were worth a mention.
