As described in the press release, the Gherkin was the inspiration for the pieces, which to me is a bit too literal and was definetely apparent in the designs.
There were a mix of pieces; some were wearable, others more conceptual. I enjoyed seeing a different interpretation of the sheer trend that seems to be coming through, although completely transparent may not be to everyones taste.
There was a sporty look slotted in here and there;nothing groundbreaking but it was an appropriate break inbetween some of the more conceptual pieces.
Floppy hats...trend?
I think the more conceptual pieces were the real innovations, in terms of technicality and providing a different interpretation to sheer, which seems to be everywhere.
The last piece was most certainly reminiscent of the gherkin. We had the discussion after the show about the creativity vs wearability, as, lets face it, you would probably getting arrested wearing this out. I can imagine Lady Gaga in these transparent numbers, but even with layers underneath, it is a more conceptual piece. I appreciate the level of skill, creativity and originality in what was done here; the silhouettes were interesting, the monochromatic colour palette mixed with grey and silver tones worked and the styling with the coral lips and purple rinse hair was genius. This is another designer I knew little of...but I am interested to see what he comes up with in the future.....
Speaking of structures, graphic lines and metallics....
Love the contrast of the check jacket and the weaving on the top, changing the direction of the look, updating a classic jacket to a more contemporary look.
Susie Bubble's sheer top, reminiscent of the grpahic lines and transparency. Trend?
I loved this knitted snood. There was something architectural about it and I haven't seen anything like this before.
